By looking at recent stats, it appears as if the woes of
Adam Dunn’s 2011 season may finally be behind him. Not to jinx his recent success, but as the
White Sox head into their final days before the regular season Adam Dunn sits
at the top of the White Sox leaderboards for homeruns (5) and RBI’s (14). That may be more homeruns and RBI’s than he
had for the entire 2011 season. All
kidding aside, if Adam Dunn can stay on top of his game and continue to lead
the White Sox in homeruns and RBI’s, the Sox should be more successful than many
analysts are predicting they will be.
Although he does not place in the top three for preseason batting
average, it’s a tough area to compete.
With Paul Konerko leading at .377 and Brent Morel coming in third
hitting .309, there is not much room for others. Hopefully as the season begins with summer
like temperatures in Chicago, Dunn and others are able to keep their momentum
going in the right direction. As opposed
to years past where opening day has been too cold and brutal to play, 2012 is
looking to bring a new outlook on baseball in April. Let’s hope this year Adam Dunn can prove that
he is worth his $56 million and provide the White Sox with a decent DH. That is
a decent DH that does not repeatedly get outperformed by the first baseman and
many other players on the team.
