It’s that time again, when the players take the field and
we’re all wondering who will perform and who will flop. After last year the first player that comes
to mind for any White Sox fan is Adam Dunn.
Everyone knows what we were supposed to be getting when Adam Dunn signed
the 4 year $56 million dollar contract with the Sox last year, but we didn’t
see any of those all star numbers.
Actually we did not even see numbers that remotely resembled a baseball
player. Adam Dunn was nothing short of
disappointing last year but like everyone else, he deserves another chance. An article by Scott Merkin titled “Fun has
returned for slugger Dunn” shows that Dunn has not given up and neither have
his teammates. He is ready to put the
woes of last year behind him and take his place as a powerful designated
hitter. Teammate, Gordon Beckham, says
of Dunn “Listen, he's not going to hit
.300. He's going to hit .250 with 40 [homers]” With teammates behind him, Dunn
has no choice but to succeed this year. Hopefully
by starting fresh and with the time off, Dunn will be able to produce somewhere
near the numbers he did prior to joining the White Sox in 2011. Last year was a difficult year for Dunn, but
no one is perfect and we all deserve a second chance. Hopefully Dunn understands that White Sox
fans will not give him a third chance.
